Manchester-based artist and architectural illustrator
Simone Ridyard is an internationally recognised architectural illustrator and educator, best known for her involvement with the global Urban Sketchers movement. She is Senior Lecturer in Interior Design at Manchester Metropolitan University, where her research focuses on on-location architectural drawing and observational practice.
She is the author of Archisketcher: Drawing Buildings, Cities and Landscapes (North Light Books, 2015) and has contributed to numerous publications on urban sketching. Her most recent book, SIMONE RIDYARD SKETCHBOOK (2023), features drawings from cities including Kuala Lumpur, Chicago, Lisbon and Manchester.
Simone specialises in teaching perspective drawing and has delivered workshops in Amsterdam, Brussels, Porto, Chicago and throughout the UK. She has collaborated on major creative campaigns with Winsor & Newton and Derwent, and is widely recognised for her expertise in observational drawing and architectural sketching.
In Fine Detail: Perspective For Artists, Architects and Creatives (publisher David & Charles), a comprehensive guide to perspective drawing, is scheduled for publication in the UK in August 2026. Simone has also been commissioned to write a new book interior design and architectural drawing, due for publication in 2027.
